- Description:
- The laboratories of Dr. Victoria Interrante and Dr. Jean-Paul Noel are recruiting research participants for an experiment that will involve walking within a virtual reality environment while wearing a virtual reality headset, and choosing paths through virtual doorways to reach targets. Further, participants will wear a water-based EEG cap, and make responses by walking and touching virtual buttons. The study consists of one session, up to 2 hours (including setup and clean-up), and will pay $15 per hour ($30 for the full session). Participants must be between the ages of 18 and 36 years old, have normal or corrected-to-normal vision (contact lenses, or glasses that fit within a VR headset), be able to walk unaided for up to 2 hours, and have no personal or family history of epilepsy or seizures, no vestibular or balance disorder, no history of severe motion sickness, no diagnosed neurological or neurodevelopmental condition, and no scalp condition or known sensitivity to shampoo (the EEG cap is placed with a solution of water, salt, and mild baby shampoo). Some people experience mild motion sickness in virtual reality, and participants may take a break or stop at any time. E-mail kamel026@umn.edu for information.
