- Title:
- IN-PERSON: Auditory Masking
- Researcher:
- Elaea Purmalietis ( Log in to contact study team )
- Term:
- Spring 2026
- Description:
- We are seeking participants 18-30 years old with normal hearing to complete an IN PERSON listening task in the Auditory Perception and Cognition lab. In this study, participants will complete a detection task in which they will be asked to indicate when they hear a target sound. Participants will complete this self-paced task in a sound attenuating booth in Elliott Hall. Participants will also receive an audiogram at the beginning of their session to verify that their auditory thresholds meet the levels required for this study. The time commitment for participation is approximately 2 hours, completed within a single session. As compensation for your time, we are offering a total of 5 REP points (2pts/hour +1pt for travel) OR $15/hour for the duration of your participation in the study. If participants choose to receive REP points, they will be awarded within 1 week after the scheduled session. If participants choose to receive cash instead of REP points, they will be compensated at the end of the session. If you are interested in participating, send an email to purma008@umn.edu with your general availability so we can set up your session and create a study seat for you. Most sessions are scheduled between 9am-5pm Monday-Friday, with some flexibility for evening and weekend scheduling if needed. We are happy to answer any questions you may have prior to scheduling. Thank you for your consideration!
