Title:
CASH STUDY ($10): Break and Mind Wandering
Researcher:
Yifan Meng
Term:
Spring 2026
Description:
We are looking for participants for a study about how different types of breaks influence cognitive recovery and thought enjoyment. If you agree to be in this study, we would ask you to complete a reaction task and watch an educational video with a comprehension test. During the video, webcam-based eye-tracking will record your gaze coordinates (x-y pixel locations only; no video is recorded or saved). You will periodically report what you were thinking about and answer questions about your thoughts. Depending on your assigned condition, you may have a 5-minute break involving walking or sitting while completing 2 short questionnaires. Finally, you will complete questionnaires about your experience and demographics. The entire process will take approximately 60 minutes in a single session and will be conducted in-person at 130 Education Sciences Building. In order to be eligible to participate in the study, you must be at least 18 years old, fluent in English, and have normal or corrected-to-normal vision. This study involves minimal risk. You will be compensated with a $10 Tango gift card.
